What is Auto Mode and how do I use it?
Sensi thermostats have a feature called Auto Mode, which allows the thermostat to switch from Heat to Cool, or Cool to Heat automatically. On some models Auto Mode can only be enabled from the Sensi app.
What is Auto Mode
Auto Mode allows heat to come on when the room temperature drops below the heat set point, and cool to come on when the room temperature rises above the cool set point. Your Sensi thermostat will always maintain a minimum separation of two degrees between the heat and cool set points to prevent heating and cooling from running at the same time. To prevent set points from overlapping, adjusting the heating set point higher can move the cooling set point higher. Similarly, adjusting the cooling set point lower can move the heating set point lower.
Example:
After switching to Auto Mode in the app, you’ll see two set points: the top one is for cooling and the bottom one is for heating.
The top set point is set to 70°F and the bottom set point is set to 67°F.
- When the display temperature rises above 70°F, your cooling system will turn on and cool the room back down to 70°.
- When the display temperature falls below 67°F, your heating system will turn on and heat the room back up to 67°F.
- When the display temperature is in between 67°-70°F, no system will come on.
Setting Auto Mode from the Sensi app
- Open the Sensi app.
- Tap your thermostat name.
- Tap the Mode icon in the lower left-hand corner.
- Tap “Auto” to have the thermostat switch between your heating and cooling systems.
NOTE: Changing the Mode at the thermostat (Heat, Cool, Aux, Off) will disable Auto Mode. You’ll have to change it back to Auto in the Sensi app afterwards. This statement only applies to Sensi Smart Thermostat and Sensi Lite Thermostat.
