How do I label my existing wires?
When you’re ready, mark each existing wire using the provided wire label stickers. Simply peel off the corresponding sticker from the backing and fold it around the wire – creating a small flag.
We suggest you detach and label one wire at a time. Don’t worry if it seems your wire labels don’t match – carefully follow the in-app instructions to ensure proper labeling.
Finally, make sure wires are secure and do not fall back into the wall when the final wire is removed from your old thermostat base.
Do the wire colors correspond with the wire labels?
Wire colors do not always correspond to the terminal letters. You should not use color coordination as a guide for wiring. Be sure to take a photo of the old thermostat that shows the wire colors and terminal letters before labeling and removing any wires.
I removed my wires from my old thermostat before labeling or taking a picture. What should I do?
Re-establishing a wiring pattern typically requires professional expertise and equipment because wire color does not always match thermostat terminal letters. You should call your HVAC service technician to map the wires from the heating and cooling equipment and assure correct connection to the thermostat.
