Features & Controls
Situated on a sprawling campus of over fifty acres and nestled in between a quiet golf course and a residential community, Lutheran North High School has been a mainstay in suburban St. Louis, MO for over sixty years. For twenty of those years, Tim Brackman has spent time as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and now, principal.
“When I became a principal, I assumed the majority of my time would be spent supervising teachers and working with students and, you know, academic components certainly are a big part of the job…but there are so many more, and building and facility management is one that I didn’t anticipate the level of involvement a principal would have in that area.”
As the neighborhood and community have grown around the school, so too have the buildings, services, and energy use at Lutheran North. Before implementation of Sensi’s Multiple Thermostat Manager, Brackman had little control over the school’s HVAC systems. With his new tool, Brackman manages an efficient thermostat network through one easy-to-use portal.
“Management of temperature in the building is an ongoing battle. One side of the building can be too hot and the other side can be too cold...with a variety of different systems, you've got a variety of potential problems. Now I can observe what's going on in a room at any particular time and monitor and engage those types of things which keeps everybody happy and is more efficient for us”
“One of the primary benefits of Multiple Thermostat Manager is the fact that anytime as a school administrator you can become more efficient, and direct more time towards students and student learning, you're doing a better job as a school leader. This is one of those areas where we can, at a moment's glance, observe what's going on in the building, make a change, and then direct our time and attention back to students, student learning, student performance... as opposed to managing air conditioner units.”
